Jolly Gel and The Pool People Ltd.
Jolly Gel is Europe’s number one swimming pool flocculent for private swimming pools. And The Pool People are the sole importers of this brilliant product in Cyprus.
Jolly Gel has been on the market for 25 years and is now stocked in 37 countries worldwide. Jolly Gel helps to remove phosphates and minute debris particles from swimming pool water and transforms the water clarity in just a few hours.
Jolly Gel
Jolly Gel (JG4), which works with sand, Zeoclere and glass filter media, are small translucent 5cm x 5cm x 2cm cubes that are placed in the pump basket (not the skimmer). The cubes dissolve slowly as water passes over them on the journey to the filter, it places a porous, clear glutinous membrane screen over the filter media, penetrating the bed to an average depth of some 15cm (6”). The glutinous structure collects the finest particles of dust along with algae spores.
How it Works
During the backwashing cycle, the bed lifts, and the Jolly Gel formulation washes the collected debris and spores to waste.
When using Jolly Gel for the first time, check that the PH is 7.2-7.6, it is important that the user observes the pressure reading within the first six hours. Jolly Gel has a far greater collection capability than all known flocculents, so the user may be unaware that the pressure in the filter could build unnoticed. Once the water has been cleaned by Jolly Gel, normal maintenance can be resumed.
- Jolly Gel has not been formulated for cartridge or DE filters and should not be used in these filters.
Jolly Gel has attained REACH Status which certifies that all ingredients meet Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH), and its amendments.
Jolly Gel Advantages

Jolly Gel Turbidity Results
The turbidity testing took place over a five day period and the results were impressive as you will see from the graph.
Whilst test pool number four started out looking visually good with a turbidity reading of 0.4NTU (being 0.1 NTU below the PWTAG Standard), Jolly Gel improved the water clarity by taking the level down to: 0.27NTU which is far better than the 0.5NTU standard set by PWTAG.
Perhaps even more impressive were the results for pool number five, as this pool was initially in a very poor condition with a turbidity reading of: 1.28 NTU.
After just four days the turbidity level reduced to 0.28NTU and although there was a slight rise at the end of five days it was still within the 0.5NTU Standard set by the PWTAG. In fact, if you take the standard of 0.5 NTU and rate it at 100% then the best results from the two pools were close to 50% better than the PWTAG standard or ordinary flocs.
